The Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation (ERAF) utilizes the Caring Fields Animal Sanctuary’s barn and 15 acres of fields for rehabilitating abused and neglected horses with the goal of eventual adoption into permanent homes. ERAF cares for about a dozen horses at Caring Fields at any given time. Since it began in 2000, ERAF has found homes for more than 70 horses.![]() ERAF is run by a board of directors with backgrounds in business and experience with horses. ERAF barn staff is assisted by volunteers, who clean stalls, groom horses and conduct other barn chores. Other volunteers who are experienced riders work with ERAF staff and board members to retrain horses. |
More than 100 volunteers completed ERAF’s four-hour training workshop in 2006 and 2007, held in collaboration with the Caring Fields Education Center.
